Meet the author Dr. Ida Jones and learn about the subject of her newest book, Baltimore Civil Rights Leader Victorine Q. Adams: The Power of the Ballot. Adams was the first African American woman elected to Baltimore City Council in 1967. Before her time on the City Council she was a charter member of the National Council of Negro Women, Baltimore Section and she founded the Colored Women’s Democratic Campaign Committee.
Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in American History from Howard University. She is an author, archivist, and historian who has published 4 books about Civil Rights and African American history. To learn more about Dr. Jones, visit her website.
