Want to be more connected with friends and family, but need some help to know how to use email and use your phone to text?  Want to know more about how to get on PCV's website, use the online Member Directory, access all of the resource information we have to help us age in place successfully?    

 

With this session at the Potomac Community Center, we're starting our new member benefit to help members be more connected and less isolated by making sure that members know how to use email and the text function of their smart phones, how to sign on to the PCV website, how to access the Member Directory, how to register for PCV events, and use technology to enhance your life.

The National Institute on Aging tells us that an estimated 1 in 4 people over the age of 65 experience social isolation.  We also know that social isolation can lead to depression, anxiety and even dementia, according to recent studies  from Johns Hopkins University.  According to these studies, technology, such as texting and the use of email, are one of the ways to increase social support among those over age 65, and reduce social isolation.
