PCV Speaker Series: Empowering a Local Movement for Clean Water, with the Potomac Conservancy

This program is presented by PCV's Green Group.

Dive into a lively conversation on the Potomac River, the wild wonder that five million of us depend on for drinking water and outdoor enjoyment. Join an expert from Potomac Conservancy, a clean water leader that is fighting to make our hometown river swimmable and fishable in the next ten years. We’ll splash into the river’s recovery effort, shed light on emerging pollution threats, and explore how local conservation efforts are combatting deforestation and the impacts of the climate crisis.

Founded in 1993, Potomac Conservancy is the region’s leading clean water advocate, combining the grassroots power of over 30,000 supporters with conservation and policy initiatives to restore the Potomac River to full health.

Our speaker is Anna Mudd, Senior Director of Policy. In this role, she advocates for public policies that prioritize the nexus of clean water and environmental justice in Maryland and Virginia. An experienced strategist, Anna interacts with elected officials, relevant government agencies and other decision-makers, and also serves as the primary liaison with partner organizations and coalitions in the environmental policy space.

Before joining the Potomac Conservancy, Anna spent several years working in local and state government, and non-profit advocacy. She is a Maryland native and currently resides in Annapolis. In addition to spending quality time with her large extended family, Anna also enjoys exploring Maryland’s many trails and public parks with her husband, son, and goldendoodle.

All are welcome to attend this free and open to all program at the Potomac Community Center.

Members who need transportation to attend this program should indicate that they need a ride when they register for this event.   If you are able to offer a ride, please let us know about that as well.

A note on donations: Admission to this program is free, but we welcome your support of PCV with a donation at any level to help us continue to offer free programs and events to our wider community.  Thanks.
