Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement

An evening of jazz and a discussion of its influence on the Civil Rights Movement

Please join flautist Galen Abdur-Razzaq for an evening of jazz and a chronicling of its history from the turn of the century to present day. He will share the music of various artists, their influence on the evolution of jazz, and their struggles.  In addition, he will illustrate how jazz became an advocacy for the Civil Rights Movement, with proceeds from jazz concerts used to finance major events such as the Freedom Rides and the March on Washington in 1963.  Jazz music throughout the evening!

For adults.
