Keynote Speaker: Sandeep Jauhar, M.D., Ph.D.
Join us as we welcome Sandeep Jauhar, M.D., Ph.D., author and contributing opinion writer for The New York Times since March 2015. A practicing cardiologist, he earned a Ph.D. in experimental physics at U.C. Berkeley before going on to study medicine at Washington University in St Louis. Dr. Jauhar will also discuss his most recent book, My Father’s Brain (2023), a memoir of his relationship with his father as he succumbed to dementia, focusing on the history and science of brain degeneration. The program offers breakout sessions throughout the day and concludes with a luncheon speaker. Breakout sessions will focus on:
Anxiety Disorders – gain an understanding about different disorders, how they affect older adults and suggested therapies.
Dementia and Anxiety – learn more about how dementia causes anxiety in patients and how to help reduce anxiety.
Artificial Intelligence – understand the advantages and uses of AI for older adults.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy – details on this session will be posted shortly.
Luncheon Speaker: Serena Jain, mindfulness based stress reduction teacher and certified integrative health & wellbeing coach.
Topic: How Mindfulness can help us cope with anxiety. Jain will provide insight into how the practice of mindfulness can help reduce anxiety, increase our focus and improve physical as well as emotional health.
CE credits for social workers, nursing home administrators and nurses are in process.
