"OUR EARTH" Book Discussion Club IN PERSON

This month we will discuss Hope In the Dark, by Rebecca Solnit. Drawing on her decades of activism and a wide reading of environmental, cultural, and political history, Solnit argues that radicals have a long, neglected history of transformative victories, that the positive consequences of our acts are not always immediately seen, directly knowable, or even measurable, and that pessimism and despair rest on an unwarranted confidence about what is going to happen next.

A limited number of copies will be available at the Check Out Desk.

Starting from a common base to have real discussions about the environment, this book discussion club is a great way to deepen ideas, have respectful debates while listening to the points of view of others and broaden our understanding and vision on this important topic. Together, we may discover new forms of commitment and imagine new sustainable and desirable horizons.

Books to be talked about at future Discussions are:

June 22: I Want a Better Catastrophe, Andrew Boyd
July 27:  The Nature Fix,  Florence Williams
August 24:  Not the End of the World, Hannah Ritchie
