PCV Cultural Arts Programming, in coordination with the Potomac Community Center Seniors Program

This month, our interactive live docent-led program will be on the new special exhibit at the National Gallery of Art, Paris 1874: The Impressionist Moment.

How did Impressionism begin? Discover the origins of the French art movement in a new look at the radical 1874 exhibition considered the birth of modern painting.

In our Zoom tour of this special exhibit we'll see some of the 130 works in this show, including a rare reunion of many of the paintings first featured in that now-legendary exhibition. Revisit beloved paintings by Paul CézanneClaude MonetBerthe Morisot, and Camille Pissarro and meet their lesser-known contemporaries. See the art norms they were rebelling against and learn what political and social shifts sparked their new approach to art.  The NGA is the only American stop for this historic exhibition, which opened in September and will run through January 19, 2025.

This PCV event is free and open to all.

Registration is not required, but is helpful so we have enough seating and refreshments.

Members who need rides are asked to indicate that in the Comments section when they register. If you are able to offer a ride, please indicate that as well.

Thank you to Joan for arranging this program for us.
