If you follow politics, you can hardly escape Allan Lichtman, the American University history professor known for correctly forecasting the victor of all but one presidential election since 1984. Newsweek calls him “the Nostradamus” of politics.

Lichtman has suggested that polling is underestimating support for the Democratic Party and Vice President Kamala Harris. His fundamental argument—based upon systematic analysis of historical precedents back to the Civil War—is that election outcomes are not determined by campaign spending. Instead, Lichtman uses 13 “keys” to the White House to make his picks, which range from economic indicators to candidates’ charisma.

Lichtman received his PhD from Harvard University in 1973 with a specialty in modern American history and quantitative methods. He is a distinguished professor of history at American University who lives in Bethesda. Join us for an interesting program featuring Professor Lichtman!
